Many of us - including my family - have come to cherish spending time outdoors.

Whether it is hiking, canoeing, or zip-lining, we are happiest when surrounded by nature, enjoying fresh air and doing a bit of exploring.

So when Moda liked my idea of a fabric line featuring scenes and sayings about Exploring the Great Outdoors, I was bursting with ideas!  So many of the wonderful places we love and the things we enjoying doing in nature could be included.

As I sketched my favorite “outdoorsy” icons, sayings about adventure and exploring just seemed to fit naturally. That's how Explore came to be.

The panels are filled with my favorite images and phrases!

Bella, of course, wanted to help draw the coordinating patterns.

Explore fabrics include patterns with paddles, trees, pinecones, “Woody” station wagons and shiplap.  A warm color palette of Lake Blue, Birch White, Pine Green and Adirondack Red make this a cozy group - especially since all of the prints are available on quilting cotton and a soft, brushed cotton that feels like flannel.

Barb Cherniwchan of Coach House Designs has done another incredible job creating so many inspiring patterns that capture the feel of the Great Outdoors - turning my panels and artwork into quilts.

Billboards – this measures 56 ”x 74”. Billboards is made with one Birch White Explore panel and yardage.

The Mountains Are Calling – this lap-size quilt measures 60” x 76”. It's made with one Khaki Tan Explore Panel and yardage.

Go RVing - 56" x 64".

Go RVing - Earth-tone version. (The yardages for both versions are listed on the pattern.)

The Great Outdoors - 56" x 74". This is made with one Birch White Explore panel and yardage. This quilt is also available as a Moda Kit using the quilting cotton prints - Explore Kit. I love how Barb is always so creative with her use of panels!

Whether you are making a quilt for that special nature-lover or a totebag or backpack for your next adventure, I hope this new collection will inspire you to visit The Great Outdoors and EXPLORE!
