A Sweet Scandinavian Christmas

Hi, I am Sherri Falls from This & That Patterns. For several weeks now I have been working on the Sweet Scandinavian Sew along quilt from the Holly Jolly book with a great group of designers that include Sherri from A Quillting Life, Vickie from Spun Sugar Quilts, Lissa from Moda Lissa and Kimberly from Jolly Jabber. The each one of them pieced some of the blocks for the quilt for me. Thank you ladies for helping me out! It’s made with the Moda Christmas fabric of Wintergreen by 3 Sisters and SnowBird by Laundry Basket quilts.

Now that it’s all done, the quilt is up for auction  HERE on Ebay with 100% of the winning bid going to the Susan G. Komen foundation.  This is a charity very close to my heart so I hope that you will pop over to ebay and bid on this special quilt. You could spend this winter snuggling up with it and help out a great cause at the same time!

Thank you for Moda for letting me be a guest on their blog and a BIG thanks to Lissa, Sherri, Kimberly and Vickie for all their hard work on this quilt!

~Sherri

Memories of JOY

Hi Everyone! I am Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts. Good memories bring JOYto me. I have gathered so many of them by being a part of Moda’s family and I am truly thankful to be a part of the Moda 12 days of JOYBlog.

Today is December 6th– “Saint Nicholas Day”. I love this day as my Mom would put presents under our pillow as we were sleeping. As the years pass I have learned that not only receiving but giving brings us even more JOY.

As I look back on past holidays there are many special moments filled with family, friends, good food, presents, and some quilting projects that have brought JOYto my heart. I’d love to share some of these JOYous moments with you as we look back.

The Holiday Season is full of simple pleasures bringing JOY to my day and making quilts is one of them.

As I wander around trying to get some last minute shopping finished, I felt a JOY to be almost done!

In a hectic pursuit to fill the wish lists, I stop for a moment and picked up something for me. A quilters JOY for my tree.

Henry has brought so much JOY by helping to wrap gifts.

My daughter, Anna, hosted a Christmas party for her friends and it was a JOY to help her prepare for her guests.

Those cupcakes have brought a great amount of JOY to the girls (and myself)!

I love the JOYous time before Christmas in the kitchen, when I get to prepare wonderful recipes that my mother and mother-in-law have passed on to me.

Another tradition is to bake a lot of cookies, everyone has their favorite shapes and it brings such JOY to see my husband Mike choose the heart, me as the snowman, dolphin for Delfina, star for Anna and little Michael loves trees.

My JOY, little Michael, wanted a lot of his Christmas Tree cookies last year;
we baked so many!

There are also lots of JOYful hugs and Eskimo kisses.

Not to mention the chocolate Kisses that = JOY

Waiting for my flower to bloom = JOY
My Winter Batik Collection “JOY” has been one of my favorites!
These fabrics are full of beautiful reds, greens and lights – perfect for getting you into the Holiday Spirit.

I have many wonderful projects to inspire you like this JOY quilt.

Happy Holidays from all of us and we wish you a lot of JOY this season!

In the holiday spirit we have a giveaway on the Laundry Basket Quilts Blog, it will bring me JOYto see you there.

Monday Dec 9 is reserved for “Me and My Sister”, don’t forget to stop back and share some of the JOYwith them!
