A new demographic...

We've all seen the surveys... the "average quilter" is a woman in her late 50s.  We may need to skew that number down a little bit. This sweet young man is 3-1/2 years old and he stitched that pillow on a sewing machine.  He picked the fabrics too!  But more on him in a moment...

Schoolhouse with Moda...

Schoolhouse - Thursday, May 18th at Quilt Market. So what is Schoolhouse?  It's a day filled with presentations - the informational kind and the fun-filled kind.

Out with the old...

It seems to have been my week for things relating to packing up and clearing out, at work and at home. On Monday morning, men arrived to move out the old office furniture in preparation for the planned built-ins. They started by unplugging my computer. Well, alright. I kept busy with anything that didn’t require a desk or computer.

'Tis the season...

For gifts.  My parents used to tease that one of the "sounds of the Christmas season" in our house was the sound of my sewing machine running late into the night - yes, even on school nights.  (After I'd finished my homework, of course.) I still do late-night sewing.  And I still make gifts.  With so many friends who stitch and make quilts, the gifts tend toward things they would use while they stitched.  Or practical things - it's the adult-equivalent of socks or underwear.
