Coriander Wovens?

Coriander Wovens?

Good Morning Friends! It’s Corey Yoder of Coriander Quilts.  Today I am introducing you to part of my brand new Sugarcreek collection - the Sugarcreek Wovens.

I have been a long-time fan - and buyer - of wovens, aka plaids and stripes that are woven and not printed.  Truth be told, I am a long-time buyer of all fabrics... aren’t we all?

But, back to wovens.  I really like adding textures to my quilts, whether with fabric or hand quilting.  A lot of the woven fabrics I’ve purchased over the years were not in the colors that paired well with my fabric collections and I often thought of how wonderful and fun would it be to have a collection of wovens that matched my sunny color palette.  And, that’s where the Sugarcreek Woven Collection comes in.

Because I like so much texture in a quilt, you’ll notice the Sugarcreek Wovens include a lot of what I’ve been calling “stitchy bits.”  It’s a bit like hand quilting on a fabric… only without the work of hand quilting.

I also knew that I wanted a linen-look type fabric that
could work really well as a background fabric.

And, if you know me, you know I love a striped binding.  All of these elements combine into a wonderful bundle of delight.  They are just waiting to be used on their own or in addition to the prints in the Sugarcreek collection.

My quilts for this collection include two designs made using only the woven fabrics. The first is Poppyseed.

Made with 18 Fat Quarters, yardage for the red star blocks and background fabric, Poppyseed measures 69" x 83". (CQ154)

This is Pound Cake. It's made with 1 Layer Cake or 20 squares 10" x 10" of Sugarcreek Wovens, of course, and yardage for the background and sashing. Pound Cake measures 60" x 74" finished size. (CQ151)

I am having so much fun mixing these wovens with prints, with other fabrics, and with other wovens!

This is in the works - Moda Cross Weave in Charcoal, Sugarcreek Wovens and a sweet Sugarcreek print.

This is Sugarcreek with Bonnie & Camille Wovens. I don't know what I'm going to make with this but I love the mix. There are so many possibilities.

Here is just a little peek of the Sugarcreek Wovens mixed with a few of the Sugarcreek Prints.

I will be back later to share more of the Sugarcreek collection - the Prints! - and all of my new quilts and patterns.  So many pretties to share with you!

Can you tell I love this collection?

Corey
