Block Heads 2 – Block 44

If I remembered how to calculate this correctly, we’re 84% of the way done with Block Heads 2! If I goofed – always a possibility – then there are only eight more blocks after today.

Those are Vanessa’s blocks, she’s started laying them out and assembling her quilt top. She’s moved a few of them around based on color but she hasn’t changed the setting – the sizes are still the same.

So you already know it’s Wednesday and we’ve got Block 44 to share – the block is Candy Striper and to make it official, it’s from Vanessa Goertzen – aka Lella Boutique.

The fabrics in Moda Michele’s block are from Betsy Chutchian’s Evelyn’s Homestead.

Block 44 – Candy Striper.

While Vanessa has been posting blocks and keeping up, she’s also been busy making quilts and sharing her latest collection – Little Tree. It’s a May 2019 release and it’s a Christmas collection – a first for Vanessa.

“Little tree, little silent Christmas tree, you are so little, you are more like a flower.” E.E. Cummings.

In addition to these beautiful prints, Vanessa designed a beautiful large-scale single-image panel that can be quilted to make a wall-hanging or throw – with or without borders.

The Little Tree Panel measures 56″ wide x 74″ long and is digitally printed.

There are also some beautiful quilts that I think we – I, me, yours truly – might need to make for Christmas.

This is Forest. It measures 80″ x 90″ and it’s made with 2 charm packs and background.

Did you wonder if those were little appliquéd circle-dots? Me too. They’re not, they’re tiny snowballs. That seems rather fitting to me. Forest. It’s a keeper.

This is Icebox – it measures 86″ x 86″ and it’s made with 18 Fat Quarters and additional yardage.

Little Tree by Lella Boutique – aka Vanessa – will be in shops in May.

If you’re on Facebook, be sure to check out Moda Fabrics and the Moda Blockheads Group as there are a couple of giveaways – a copy of this Block Heads book and a Lollipop Garden Fat Eighth bundle.

One more time, just in case… Block 45 – Candy Striper.

And the Final Quilt Assembly & Instructions.

Remember… if the blogs aren’t up or the links aren’t working, check the Moda Block Heads 2 Archive.  Because if you’re reading this, it’s already been updated and it will have what you’re looking for.

  1. Ha! My first thought on seeing the Forest quilt was, indeed, that those were appliqued circles, and my second thought was, I’m not making all those little circles!
    Vanessa’s panel is beautiful.

We love to hear from you...
