Block Heads 2 – Block 27

Happy Block Heads Wednesday – one block per week Wednesday!

I love this quilt!  Do the blocks look familiar?  This is Lynne’s finished Block Heads 1 quilt – it’s included in the soon-to-be-released Block Heads book.  I love Lynne’s setting – it’s in the book –  especially how she used Jan’s eight appliqué blocks in the corners of the second border.

You’ve probably already guessed that today is Lynne Hagmeier’s block-day.  She’s one of the original Block Heads, and the one who got the Block Heads idea rolling as a way of celebrating traditional blocks and fabrics.  Huzzah Lynne!

Block 27 – Mountain Climbing.

Moda Michele.  She’s my savior – and a sweetheart.  The fabrics used in her Mountain Climbing block are from Betsy Chutchian’s Evelyn’s Homestead.  (Thank you Michele.)

A huge thank you to Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life and Sherri & Chelsi for sharing her beautiful Mountain Climbing block.  She’s used fabrics from several Sherri & Chelsi collections, including Clover Hollow and the showing-to-shops-now Walkabout.  (Thank you, Sherri!)

Block 27 – Mountain Climbing.

Remember… if the blogs aren’t up or the links aren’t working, check the Moda Block Heads 2 Archive.  Because if you’re reading this, it’s already been updated and it will have what you’re looking for.

Two more things to share today – as I wrote above, the Block Heads book is almost here.  It’s scheduled to be released on December 4, 2018.

There will be a book-signing at Fall Market for the book – and I think you can expect a few giveaways before the end of the year.

I also wanted to share Lynne’s beautiful new On Meadowlark Pond collection from the August catalog.

It’s hard to see in the picture but the darkest fabrics at the top are on a Black background.  With the rich gold, almost pumpkin pieces, it’s the beginnings of a beautiful quilt like this one from Lynne’s Cozy Quilts & Comforts book.

A perfect Fall quilt… making mental note – must get more plaids.

Then be sure to check the Moda Blockheads Facebook Group and the blocks being posted on Instagram – #ModaBlockheads

That’s it for Week 20 – Block 27!

Happy Wednesday!

  1. OH MY GOSH!! The new On Meadowlark Pond collection is so beautiful that I almost cried. It just took my breath away. On top of that thank you for all of the wonderful block heads.

  2. When I look back at all the photos of blocks I’ve saved to use as inspiration, Moda Michele heads the pack. You’re so lucky to have her making your blocks! I’m glad that I’m caught up – so many tiny pieces to this one. Thanks for another great block. Love on Meadowlark Pond – adding it to Christmas wish list.

  3. I love this block! But I can’t find the finished size of it anywhere. Am I missing it? Can you tell me what it is please? Or where I can find it?

  4. Daphne…
The block size is shown on the pattern sheet…. 18-1/2 x 18-1/2 unfinished. I used to have a problem with that each week as well until I realized it is usually at the end of the instructions.
Didn’t mean to jump in, Carrie, but since I knew the answer, I just went ahead and replied….

  5. I know I’m a bit late to respond, but… I absolutely love Lynn Hagmeier’s “On Meadowlark Pond” collection. I will be buying a layer cake of this. And the Block Heads 1 book, while I have the patterns, I’m getting the book. I need to see the finishing of the great designers and others. When is Fall Market? Is that open to the general public?

We love to hear from you...
