Let's make something Merry for the holidays!

Merry Makers - Book 7 for the Moda All-Stars - has arrived and we're sharing projects, a lovely story and maybe even a book or two.

But first, a story about the common threads we share as quilters, the surprising ways that our paths cross, and how quilting can make a difference in people's lives... often in ways we will probably never know.

Mini Charm Quilts was published in February, 2018 with eighteen projects benefitting LCC Canine Comfort Dogs.  Launched in August 2008, the Lutheran Church Charities K-9 Comfort Dog program is a national human-care mission embracing the unique, calming nature and skills of purebred Golden Retrievers.

A few weeks ago, Jennifer Keltner, the Publisher and CVO of Martingale Publishing received the following letter from Maggie Hansa, the Administrative Assistant to the President and CEO of Lutheran Church Charities.

Dear Jennifer,

When the President of LCC called me into his office to ask about Martingale and Company after receiving the recent very thoughtful and generous royalty donation, the second of its kind – I wound up immersed in your Facebook page – my long-latent love of quilting quickly re-igniting! In checking our database, I thought you might be the same Jennifer Keltner as a donor we showed as being in Iowa. My mother was an Iowa farm girl, I still have a number of her quilts, all very delicate now. She was born in 1915. When Tim saw me light up after finding your Facebook page, he asked me to reach out to you, and to thank you for the incredible thoughtfulness and generosity of Martingale & Company.

We have a Deaconess and a pastor’s wife who typically call or email each of our donors, to thank them and offer prayerful support if there’s a need. I didn’t want to make an incorrect "leap" based on information in our database, so thought it best to call Martingale and see if I was connecting the right dots. I talked with the wonderful gal that answered – I think it was Colleen? - It seems likely that I’m correct that you are the same person that we have in our database, having lived in Ankeny, Iowa?

I understand that you are very much the creative, visionary force at Martingale. What a beautiful blessing you bring, to share, enrich, and enlarge the creativity in other’s lives! And re-ignite it in others!

To you and all of your staff Jennifer, thank you so very much for your very thoughtful consideration of LCC, and support of the LCC Comfort Dog Ministry!

Blessings and gratitude,

Maggie
