Red, White, Blue & Quick

Red, White, Blue & Quick

Here's the conundrum for a long weekend... sewing is relaxing and that's what weekends are for, right?  But it's a loooong weekend, so that means there is time for fun and relaxing!  But sewing is fun... right?

Hurrah by Laurie Simpson of Minick & Simpson.  Okay, not quick.  But Red, White-Cream and Blue.  Scrappy Minick & Simpson collections.

These are quick.  Ish.  They are the Sweet Liberty Tuffets from a pattern I had many years ago, a pattern that is now out-of-print.  (All seven of the pincushions in the pattern were made with a single Minick & Simpson Charm Pack.)

But to celebrate Independence Day - Sweet Liberty Tuffets Schnibbles Pattern.

Last year, I also shared two Patriotic Pillow patterns.  The first one is made with fabrics from Fig Tree & Co.‘s Coney Island collection – with one or two additions because I wanted all the stripes to be different.  But any reds, blues and white-ivory will work!  This pillow measures 12″ x 24″ finished and it’s titled Stripes & One Star – Stripes & One Star Instructions.

(You’ll forgive the hand-drawn diagrams, right?)

Download the pattern here - Stripes & One Star.

The second pillow is Stripes & Stars was made with Bonnie & Camille'The Good LifeBasics and a stripe from Vintage Picnic.  The background is one of my favorites - it’s from Miss Scarlet by Minick & Simpson.  The pillow measures 20" x 20" finished.

Download the pattern here – Stripes & Stars Instructions.

If you'd like to know a little bit about how I make my pillows, including quilting, backing and putting in a zipper, you can read about that here.

I hope you're getting a long weekend - this weekend or next.  We had the option of choosing which one so I'll be relaxing, having some fun and hopefully sewing this weekend.

Happy Friday and Happy July 4th!
