Blockheads ~ Block 39

Today is National Electronic Greetings Day!  I had to open with something and since I can't send you each an e-card individually, I thought I'd share some of my favorite sewing-quilting-related ee-cards.

It's Blockheads Wednesday, v. 39.  Or Blockheads Jo Morton, v. 7.  One of those.

Block 39 is Framed Star.  Tammy tweaked the color placement a bit and made a terrific variation.  (The parts are the still made the same way.) . The light fabric is from Songbird Gatherings by Lisa Bongean for Primitive Gatherings and the two prints are from Posh Pumpkins by Sandy Gervais.

The blue print is from Rachel Remembered by Betsy Chutchian, the red and gold prints are from I-don't-know-which-collections, and then there is the I-still-love-this background from Snowberry by 3 Sisters.

Blockheads Figgy Style has black and aqua prints from Fig Tree & Co.'s Farmhouse and the background is an emerging favorite background, a light print from the coming-next-year Regency Blues by Christopher Wilson-Tate.

Question of the Week ~ Have you started your Christmas preparations?  Baking?  Shopping?  Made a gift-wish list for yourself?

It's still three-and-a-half weeks away.  I have plenty of time...

I have done a few things - I bought two fresh Boxwood wreaths and a doormat with a snowflake.  And when I find a small fresh tree in a pot that can be re-planted - I'll get one of those.  (I'll plant it at my brother's house at Christmas.)

Baking?  No.  But I've saved a recipe for Cranberry Salsa... does that count?  Shopping?  Some.  Or rather, I've started making a list - of sorts - and I think that counts.  I have pulled out two Christmas-theme quilts, and put the box with a Christmas-theme quilt on the top of the stack.  While it won't be finished by Christmas, I will work on it and finish it before the end of this year.  (Picture on January 3, 2018 - that will give me a deadline.) (Make that by January 10th.)

What about you?  Have you done any of those things?

Just so you know, it's also National Square Dance Day.  According to the folks at Mental FlossDespite its close association with cowboys and honky tonk bars, the square dance actually originated in Europe in the 17th century. However, the United States has since taken over its cultural reins, so much so that 19 states have declared it their official dance. If you have yet to try this folk dance, take your partner by the hand and swing him/her down to the nearest hootenanny.

Don't forget that there is a Blockheads Archive with links to all of the published blocks and blog posts.

I think that's it for this Wednesday, November 29.  Be sure to visit Lisa, Lynne, Betsy and Jan to see their blocks and what other good things they might have made:

And don’t miss the blocks being posted to #modablockheads on Instagram and Facebook.  The colors, styles of fabric and block variations are wonderful.

If you're not already a member, you can still join the Moda Blockheads Facebook group.  It's a busy group with lots of tips, suggestions and support.

Happy Blockhead Wednesday!
