October. Fall. Fall?
It was on Monday, and it’s expected to be in the 90s again by the weekend. Yesterday was bliss – in the 50s in the morning, beautiful most of the day. Today is supposed to be almost as lovely. Maybe we’ll have Fall by next week.
It’s Blockheads Wednesday, v. 32.
Then I got to playing around with the blocks… I just couldn’t help myself.
Using the same size pieces I used last week on Block 31 – I made pieced triangle units. (The squares are cut 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″, the triangles are 1-7/8″ x 1-7/8″ squares cut in half once on the diagonal. The large flying geese corner triangles are 2-7/8″ x 2-7/8″ squares cut in half once on the diagonal – though they can be cut at 3-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ and trimmed to size using one of the excellent geese trimming rulers available from Studio 180, Bloc Loc or Antler Quilt Design.)
The geese still measure 2″ x 3-1/2″ – to finish at 1-1/2″ x 3″.
And to see what else I could make, I made the geese with half-triangle squares, alternating the position of the prints. This looks like a Yankee Puzzle or other block… but it’s still the same basic layout. Go figure.
Question of the Week ~ When you went from making quilts for yourself and began doing it as a business, is there anything you wish you’d known ahead of time? Or was ignorance truly bliss?
Ignorance was bliss. As it is with so many things, there was a lovely freedom in not knowing some of the challenges that were coming. I knew I would make mistakes – both out of ignorance, and despite having knowledge, great advice and guidance. I knew I would survive the process, learn a great many things along the way, and if it didn’t work out, life would go on.
I already knew that as it is with any random group of people, being in the business has introduced me to people with amazing vision and creativity, people whose ability to support and promote others is selfless and boundless. I wish I could say everyone was like that but… that’s life, right?

While looking for a “funny” Fall picture, I ran across one that had me laughing so of course, I have to share. I couldn’t find the origin of the image – the artist/designer of it. If you should know the source, please let me know.
I hope it’s truly Fall where you are.
Happy Blockhead Wednesday!
