Reset. The countdown starts anew. Fall Market is… not worth thinking about yet.
If nothing else, there are still a few more things to share from Spring Market in St. Louis. These beautiful quilts are by Jen Kingwell – either for Jen Kingwell Designs or for the Jen Kingwell Collective line of patterns ~ quilts designed and made by others that Jen publishes the pattern for. The quilt in the upper left is Spin Drift, with Dream Weaver below it. On the right is one of my favorites, the truly spectacular Long Time Gone.
This is Paradise in Bloom by Lucy Carson Kingwell, Jen’s beautiful, talented daughter. It measures 69″ x 69″ and is made with machine-piecing.
Jen has a couple of new collections: Circulus is a perfect basic polka dot in a range of gorgeous colors / Lollies – Sweeties is a new assortment of Lollies prints in new colors / Behind the Scenes Wovens – an assortment of stripes, plaids and wovens in shades of gray. Pictures coming soon.
I missed getting a picture of Polly & Laurie – aka Minick & Simpson. I think they were hiding. Or maybe they just disappeared every time they saw my camera or cellphone. This is Ann’s Arbor, their beautiful new collection that will ship in August. (The yellow isn’t quite that bright, it’s the awful lighting of the convention center.)
The quilts are Lady of the Lake and Four Flags. The nine-patch quilt on the rack is Chippewa Nine-Patch.
Shannon Gillman Orr – an absolute sweetie with a wonderful new collection, book and coming-soon planner. The collection is Tuppence and the Tuppence quilts are Wallflower, Cordelia, Charlotte, Newton and Eugene. The book is Choose Joy and I don’t know the name of the planner… yet. But congratulations to Shannon for being named an Aurifil Artisan for 2017.
This is Rumor Has It. Lisa also has several wonderful new products including Binding Needles and Big-Stitch Needles. They’re not on the United Notions website yet but they’re coming soon. (Close-up fabric pictures of Needle & Thread Gatherings in another week or so.)
If I missed a designer… I couldn’t find them or their booth. A few didn’t make it to Market and we missed them – a lot. As for the rest, there are a few more pictures I wanted to share.
Jo Morton decorated part of her booth space with her Blockheads blocks and I loved how good they looked together.
I also love the little quilt made entirely from small half-triangle squares.
You already know how I love the little things that Sweetwater makes to decorate their booth… I want those drawstring bags made with Authentic, Etc.! I have no idea for what purpose but I think they’re perfectly wonderful.
We were happy to see Chelsi when she got to St. Louis so here are Sherri & Chelsi. One of the challenges for our designers is always leaving kids behind to come to Market, and we do appreciate when Chelsi can be with us. We thank 9-month old Finn and his sisters, Harper and Ashton for letting us have Chelsi for a few days.
I did manage to get a picture of Joanna – with my lanyard.
She did return it and truth be told, it’s fancy enough that it probably looks better with her pretty dress than with my “uniform”. <insert winking emoji here>
I found Bonnie & Camille visiting early Sunday morning so I got them to put their breakfast down long enough for me to take a picture.
Just so you know, they’re as kind, generous and talented as they are beautiful.
These two are also kind, generous, talented and beautiful – and despite living on opposite sides of the world, being quite different on the surface, Jen and Lisa are kindred spirits who’ve developed a wonderful friendship.
I love this picture.
But my favorite is this one…
Brenda Riddle and her sweet, adorable Dad, Aaron. He came to St. Louis and attended Market on Sunday morning. Brenda glowed and her Dad beamed with pride. Thank you for coming!
As Sunday draws to a close, everyone who is staying for Takedown manages to slip off to change clothes. From “business casual” to take-down t-shirts and stretchy pants or shorts. The crew gets ready to get busy!
From the left – Kelli Trimble – Debbie Outlaw ~ aka “Outlaw” – Josh Dunn – Shane Keogh of Australia
Lissa Alexander & Tammy Vonderschmitt
Joy Ansell & Juan Calderon
The booth was taken down, packed up, labeled and ready to go in three hours. The best part was that it was a glorious Sunday afternoon and there was a lovely breeze coming into the convention center through the big bay doors at the back.
Finally, technology is always fun to play with so here’s a Boomerang’d video of the Designer group photo shoot.
We hope you have a safe, happy Memorial Day weekend.
